For years, the iPhone has saved photos as HEIC: they take half the space of a JPG with the same quality. The problem appears when uploading them to a form, sending them to a Windows computer or attaching them on a platform: often the file is not recognized. The fix is converting them to JPG, which works everywhere, or putting them together in a PDF.
Convert to JPG
- Move the photos to your computer (cable, AirDrop, iCloud or email) or open them right from your phone browser.
- Go to "HEIC to JPG" on LeuPaPDF and choose one or several photos.
- Leave "JPG" selected and press "Convert to JPG".
- Download: one photo comes out as .jpg; several, together in a ZIP file.
Put several photos in one PDF
If you are asked for a single document (for example, both sides of an ID or several pages of a receipt), choose "A single PDF". Each photo becomes a page, in the list order. You can keep each photo size or fit it to A4 or Letter paper.
Tip: Need the PDF to be small for a form? After creating it, run it through "Compress PDF" right from the result.
Is quality lost?
Photos are converted at full resolution and high JPG quality: the difference is not visible to the naked eye. And since everything happens in your browser, your photos are never uploaded to a server.
Avoid the problem on the iPhone
If you prefer the iPhone to save JPG directly, go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose "Most Compatible". Photos will take more space, but you will not need to convert them.
